      Centre Manager and Administrator

I am the Centre Manager and Administrator of the Owl’s Nest Preschool. I began the Owls’ Nest with my wife Charlotte in 2016. We wanted to create a great early childhood centre because we believe the foundation years of a child’s life provide the basis for lifelong learning. I love the diversity of working in early childhood education – every child is unique and no one day is the same as the last.

Family is very important to me and I thoroughly enjoy the time I get to spend with my family. My goal is to provide your children with the same high quality nurturing care that you provide, while also giving them the opportunity to benefit from the learning opportunities our Preschool has to offer.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1998 from Otago University and a Graduate Diploma in secondary teaching in 2000 from the Christchurch College of Education. I worked for 10 years in secondary education, mainly in the UK. Since I completed the Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Teaching at Canterbury University in 2011 I have worked in early childhood education as a teacher.

      Early Childhood Teacher

Hi there! My name is Kate and I work full time at Owls Nest Preschool as a qualified teacher.

I was born in South Korea and moved to New Zealand in 2002. As a migrant, I know what it feels like to be away from home. So, I believe in providing an environment for children and families to feel safe and included where we can build trusting relationships.

I love working with children. Being a teacher is a fun and rewarding job as I see them explore, experiment, develop and understand their own ideas at their own pace! I enjoy developing and inspiring children’s learning through fun and creative activities.

Outside of work, I volunteer as a Sunday school teacher at my local church. When I am home, I enjoy relaxing with a book and a cuppa.

I look forward to working with you and your children and guiding them on their journey of becoming competent and confident learners as well as healthy in mind, body and spirit.
